During the peak summer months, it is often observed that natural sources of clean water for birds almost disappear in and around Ranthambore National Park. With temperatures rising sharply, small ponds, seasonal streams, and shallow water holes dry up quickly, creating a severe water crisis for thousands of local and migratory birds. Dehydration and heat stress become serious threats to their survival. Recognizing this urgent environmental challenge, Bagh Sanrakshan Avm Grameen Vikas Samiti initiated a dedicated program to create Fresh Water Points for birds across Ranthambore and nearby rural areas.

Under this initiative, our organization has successfully installed more than 1,000 fresh water points over the past several years. These water stations have been strategically placed in forest buffer zones, village outskirts, and other bird-populated areas to ensure maximum accessibility. The water pots are made from natural clay, which is eco-friendly and highly effective in keeping water cool even during extreme heat. Clay naturally regulates temperature, allowing birds to access refreshingly cool water throughout the day. Moreover, these earthen pots are biodegradable and do not cause any harm to the environment, aligning perfectly with our commitment to sustainable conservation practices.

Our responsibility did not end with the installation of these water points. Regular maintenance and refilling of the pots have been an essential part of this program. Our dedicated volunteers and local supporters take on the daily task of cleaning and refilling the pots to ensure a continuous supply of safe and hygienic drinking water for birds. Even during intense heatwaves, our team works tirelessly to monitor and maintain these water stations.

This initiative has had a visible and meaningful impact. Various bird species such as parrots, mynas, pigeons, sparrows, bulbuls, and other native birds have benefited from these life-saving water sources. By providing accessible drinking water, we have helped reduce bird mortality during harsh summers and supported the preservation of local biodiversity. Small efforts like these contribute significantly to maintaining ecological balance in the region.

Community participation has been a key strength of this program. We sincerely thank all our volunteers, villagers, and supporters who have contributed their time, energy, and resources to make this initiative successful. Their cooperation reflects a growing awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation and environmental responsibility.

At Bagh Sanrakshan Avm Grameen Vikas Samiti, we believe that protecting wildlife goes beyond saving large animals; it includes caring for every living being that forms part of our ecosystem. Through sustainable actions, awareness campaigns, and active fieldwork, we remain committed to protecting the natural heritage of Ranthambore.

In the coming years, we aim to expand this water conservation program, install more water points, and encourage greater community involvement. Together, we can ensure that birds and wildlife continue to thrive, even during the harshest summers, and that future generations inherit a healthier, greener, and more balanced environment.
